Water Connection of Schenectady and Cohoes
-
Description
-
One main disease outbreak that occured in upstate New York was the 1891 Typhoid Epidemic. While this disease mainly spread throughout Schenectady, downstream neighbors were also susceptible due to the flow of the Mohawk River. During this time, sewage flowed directly into the river and downstream to Cohoes, causing a higher amount of cases in Cohoes.
